My review
I can safely say that The Winner's Curse is one of my new favorite books! It's very original.
The Winner's Curse is considered as a fantasy book, but it does not really have a lot of fantasy elements. The only thing that makes it fantasy is that it takes place in another world.
I loved this book a lot, I flew through it!

The World
The world, for a fantasy world, is very basic, but still interesting. It was ecpecially interesting on political aspects. I couldn't help but love this world.
The Winner's Curse takes place in Herran, a colony of Valoria. There is no magic, but there's also no modern technology, people write letters with ink and a feather, they use horses for transport and women only wear dresses. This gives a little bit of a historical feeling to the world.
Even though I loved the world, it's not what makes this book so special.
Characters
This book is told in third person from both Kestrel and Arin's point of view, though it's more Kestrel's story than it is Arin's.
I really love the two main characters. They are very interesting and unique.
Kestrel is very smart. She's not a fighter, she's not very brave and kick-butt, but she's a strategist. This is unlike a lot of female fantasy characters and I really liked that. Kestrel can very easily analyze situations and come up with good ideas. She knows how to play her games.
I also really liked that Kestrel never whines, she's a strong character. I really love strong female characters.
Arin is also a great character, but, in this book, mostly mysterious. Even though you also read from his point of view, a lot stays unwritten. It wasn't until near the ending that I felt like he opened up more and we got to know him better. I didn't mind this at all. It made him a very interesting character.
Plot
I feel like some people might say that the first half of this book is a little slow paced. Though, I flew through it.
The first half is mostly character based and set up for the story. You get introduced to the characters and they get introduced to each other.
How the relationship between Kestrel and Arin grows is so wonderful. Their relationship is like the opposite of insta-love, which I really appreciate!
In the second half of the books things start to go down. I'm not going to say much about this, but basically, in the second half things get pretty messed-up and I loved every second of it.
I love this book a lot and I really hope more people would pick it up so we could all love it and fangirl about it!
I hope that if you pick it up you will love it as much as I did, pleas tell me is you pick it up!
If you have already read this book, PLEASE talk about it with me! :)
Thanks for reading my review, if you see any faults in my grammer, spelling or anything, tell me so I can edit it out!
